Fall Driving
If you have driven the country roads in recent days, you have been surrounded by evidence of the fall foliage season at its peak. Whatever direction you’re traveling to arrive in Hunt Valley, there’s either no choice - or at least there’s the option - to travel on the country roads. Talk about a great excuse to bring the family to Hunt Valley Horsepower this Saturday morning. :)
On Tuesday of this week, the drive to visit the teams at Len Stoler Ford and Len Stoler Porsche brought me through some of the most beautiful roads and scenes in the area. From Hunt Valley, head west on Shawan Road (which turns into Tufton Avenue). You can turn left or right at the T in the road (to Greenspring Avenue or Worthington Avenue) and then take – as a sample - either Garrison Forest Road (if taking a left) or Bonita Avenue (if taking a right). After that, take the roads that may be less traveled. Explore. Find a few spots to pull off the road and take in the natural sights. You’ll definitely see your share of horses as a bonus. To carry on all the way to the Len Stoler dealerships in Owings Mills, continue west to 11275 Reisterstown Road to take in the automotive horsepower.
On the same day, I headed east of Hunt Valley to chat with the teams at VP Auto Collision, Glass Doctor and Reflected Images Custom Detailing in Forest Hill. Just by coincidence…and of course, I’m kidding about the coincidence…there are a ton of country road options when heading east from Hunt Valley to Forest Hill. Jarrettsville Pike, Furnace Road, Sweet Air Road, Carroll Road, Hess Road…there are so many choices. If you want to plan a trip east and you’re not sure where to go, here’s a quick and easy practice. Check out Google Maps on your computer. Select Earth view. It’ll give you a bird’s eye view from atop the trees. Link up the roads that are surrounded by wooded areas that lead to your destination. Maybe write them down. Go!
Of course, the Horses & Hounds Scenic Byway is full of excellent scenic routes. Check the map that is available at the following link… commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MD_Scenic_Byway_9,_Horses_and_Hounds_Map.png.
It has been a dreary Wednesday in our region. Think ahead to some of the less-than-ideal driving weather that’s probably in store for our winter. Take advantage of what our beautiful surroundings have to offer. Autumn leaves are meant to fall so enjoy them while they last! Bring the family. Bring the camera. See you down the road!
