As a kid growing up in the Poconos of Pennsylvania, youth baseball was a foundation of my family. My grandfather helped bring baseball to my town in the late 50s. He was part of the first group of coaches and my father played on his team in the league’s first year. My brother and I were coached by my father in the late 70s and early 80s. Youth baseball provided common ground for a town full of kids to be a part of something special. It helped us grow into young adults through understanding the importance of athletics, teamwork, regular exercise and the fun that is had while working toward common goals.
